Wedding in the Supreme Court

Share Your Story: How Did You Meet and Marry?

From Keith Robbins

My Wedding Story

My wife and I had gone out in High School. I then enlisted in the Service (Air Force) and she married another man. We went our separate ways. I actually had moved to California and then moved back to Oregon. My wife had been divorced and she moved back to Oregon. She had no clue where I was or what I was doing just on the off chance that I was around called my Mom's house in Portland and I happened to be around. We went out the next night and I guess sort of never looked back. It was strictly random chance that we both happened to be in the same place. We actually never were formally engaged.

Our Wedding

I happened to be in the National Guard and knew a General who happened to be chief justice of the Oregon Supreme Court.

He agreed to perform the ceremony. We happened to be married in the Oregon Supreme Court building. Since I had a degree in politics it seemed appropriate. Not many people can say they were married in the Supreme Court but we can.

Advice

  • We only had 6 guests at our wedding. I would advise to invite as many as possible because you only get married once or twice or three times in a lifetime

Francesca Di Meglio, Newlyweds Guide, says:

When a marriage is meant to be, it will happen. You just might take time to get there.
