Wedding - Saving the First Dance for Hubby

Having fun with cake! My MOH made my cake!

Your Favorite Wedding Moment and Why

I was married in a 100-year old church where my mother is buried. I had to change down the street. I realized my MOH and I had been left and I would have to walk up the hill in my Cindy wedding gown to the church. The photographer drove us. I was pulled out of the car & married with a crooked tiara.

What You'd Change and Why

I never felt more beautiful than that day. I had everyone I loved and cared about there except for my Mama. I knew I would never marry again it took me 31 years to bite the bullet and do it then. I wish we could have had dancing. I would have liked to have a first dance with my hubby.

My Wedding Story

We met at a spa, he would stare at me. I told him to speak and not to stare and we became friends. We had one date I wanted to be just friends. He became interested in the theater with me and I fixed him up with my nice girlfriends. At a Halloween party I started to like him, Christmas, I got mad at him for dancing with the girl I had fixed him up with. I predicted he would marry at my party. He brought me medicine when I was sick. He fixed my flat tire at 1am on a cold January night without gloves & he drove my car around the block to make sure it would be ok. I decided his next date would be me.

Our Wedding

I was so mad when I was pulled out of that car I was going to leave but I realized it wasn’t his fault. It was my sister and best mans fault. I really wanted to marry David. So I calmed down and went into the church where all my family and friends were dying! No air-conditioning they had pulled the nails out and opened the old windows for air during the 20 minutes I sat at the church. We were married sitting on a bench with my step son sitting on David’s lap. My sister and Mother in law read favorite passages from the bible. Since our guest was part hospital people and part theater people they laughed and had fun with us. Its show time was yelled out as the wedding started. I did not do the rehearsal my niece said it was bad luck. I realized I had no clue what to do. I was terrified. My main problem came with the rings I had difficulty getting that ring on his finger. Everybody starts cracking up laughing at me as I grab his hand and force that ring on while saying my vows. The video is really funny. There were many other mishaps I keep finding out about that happened that night. By the way we got married on a Friday the 13th.

Advice

  • Wait for the right one and even if everything goes wrong, even if it is Friday the 13th it will be ok. You're getting the prize in the end the groom! Believe me you will laugh about it many times later on especially if there is a video! Just relax and enjoy your day! Just show up and be beautiful it will make up for what ever else goes wrong

Francesca Di Meglio, Newlyweds Guide, says:

Why don't you share a dance with your hubby for an anniversary? I wish you had that chance, too. By the way, my parents danced to your song at their wedding (for their first dance).
