Advice for Newlyweds: Lift Your Spouse’s Spirits

By , About.com Guide

Try to comfort your spouse when he or she is sad or blue. Give him or her encouragement or try to lift his or her spirits with a joke or an embrace. Depending on what's bringing down your spouse, a make-out session or sex could be just the right cure. Do not yell, get mad, or give the silent treatment. This will only make matters worse and could throw your partner into a deeper sadness. That could put your relationship in jeopardy. Part of the reason to get married is to have someone by your side to support you, especially in difficult times.
