Actor Mark Wahlberg and Model Rhea Durham have been dating since 2001, and they have three children together -- Ella Rae, Michael, and Brendan Joseph, according to the Associated Press. For years they have seemed like an old married couple even though they hadn't yet tied the knot.
In front of their three kids and about 12 close friends and relatives, Wahlberg and Durham took their vows at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Beverly Hills. The church was decked out in pink and violet flowers and candles, according to the New York Daily News. The bride wore a white Marchesa gown with silver embroidery and a Neil Lane diamond and platinum cushion cut ring. The groom wore a dark suit and silver tie. After the ceremony, the couple and their children left through the back door of the church for a private reception, according to the Daily News.
The Boston Globe reported that Wahlberg and his bride would not go on a honeymoon at this time because he is still filming The Fighter, a film about "Irish" Micky Ward and his half-brother Dicky Eklund. Wahlberg told reporters, according to the Boston Herald, that they would be spending their honeymoon "at home."
What the Press Says about Them:
The press says that these two are an adorable pair and that family life agrees with them. Colleagues of Wahlberg have told reporters that he is great with kids in general -- and that he seems to be happy with a typical family life.
What We Learn from Them:
Wahlberg has reportedly said that his now wife and three children have given his life a purpose that it was previously lacking. He has told People that he spent 30 or so years being single, playing the field, and having fun. But now he has a new lease on life. What you can take away from these statements is that marriage isn't the funeral you might think it is. The stability of committing to one person and creating a family can be refreshing and even healthy. Marriage, in fact, can give your life direction and meaning.
