Conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh met his fourth wife, Kathryn Rogers, six years ago when she was running a charity golf event, in which he participated. At the time, Limbaugh was divorcing his third wife.
With 400 guests and very tight security, Limbaugh and Rogers' wedding was a circus. There were white roses everywhere, and guests included former George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove, actor-turned-politician Fred Thompson, Fox News' Sean Hannity, and former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, according to People. By far, however, the most talked about person at the wedding was singer Elton John, who was reportedly paid $1 million to perform. People were shocked because Limbaugh is outspoken against gay marriage, while John, a gay activist, is open about his homosexual lifestyle.
After the wedding, Limbaugh and Rogers headed to Mexico, Africa, and other unknown destinations for their honeymoon. Sounds like a lavish vacation, no?
What the Press Says about Them:
Many a joke has been made about Limbaugh and the contradiction between his promotion of family values and his three failed marriages. He has had to deal with a prescription drug addiction in the public eye and lots of criticism for his stance on various political issues. Psychology Today published a scathing analysis of why people should not celebrate Limbaugh's fourth attempt at marriage. In fact, the article argued that having multiple marriages like this is an indication that you're not learning from the past. Still, most are hoping that Limbaugh and Rogers make their marriage last.
What We Learn from Them:
Everyone is going to come into a marriage with baggage, but some of us have more than others. If your husband or wife is hauling heavier baggage than you, you have to have more patience and love to make the relationship work. Getting past the past is a difficult challenge for all couples, but if you can make it down the aisle four times, then you have a fighting chance. Obviously, you believe in marriage against all odds.
