Wedding Date:

Relationship Profile:

Hilary Duff, best known for her role on the Disney TV show Lizzie McGuire, met Canadian hockey player Mike Comrie in 2007 while the two were traveling in a group at a resort in Idaho, according to People. Comrie, 29, surprised Duff, 22, with a proposal while they were on vacation in Hawaii in February 2010, according to People. Duff described the proposal as unexpected; the pair were on the balcony of their hotel room when he dropped to one knee and pulled out the ring, she explained when interviewed on the TV show Live with Regis and Kelly.

The Wedding:

In front of 100 guests at the Mediterranean Villa La Quinta in Santa Barbara, Calif., Duff and Comrie exchanged vows. The bride wore a Vera Wang gown, and her sister Haylie was her maid of honor, according to Us Magazine. Little is known about the intimate wedding, but paparazzi did manage to get a hold of some blurry wedding photos, which made the rounds on the Internet in the days following the nuptials.

The Honeymoon:

The love birds spent their wedding night at the San Ysidro Ranch, according to People. Although the Just Jared Web site reports that Duff and Comrie left for their honeymoon on a private jet the day after their wedding, it does not say where they were going.

What the Press Says about Them:

The press does not say much about this young couple. Teen magazines are more interested in Duff than mainstream papers and magazines. But many people clamored for the rather blurry photos of their wedding that surfaced on the Internet. The bottom line is that Duff and Comrie are young and cute and in love, which makes for great fodder.

What We Learn from Them:

We learn that young love can be inspirational by observing Duff and Comrie. Although the odds are against couples who marry so young, they look so happy that you can hardly believe they'd ever be part of the divorce statistics. Of course, you're pulling for them to make it and trying to be as happy and carefree as they appear to be. And if they continue to support each other - Duff has said her husband is generous, kind, and brings her happiness - then they should do just fine. Complimenting your spouse and being in love with him or her is the first step at a long-lasting marriage.
