Wordless Wednesday Weddings
Using a photo taken by Foto Elite in Ischia, Italy and an online template from Kodak, I created and purchased thank you cards that said thank you for wedding gifts and happy holidays. © Photo of the card by Francesca Di Meglio
My husband and I had a wedding and vow renewal in the fall of 2008, so we had lots of people to thank for their support and generous gifts. Since we had our vow renewal over Thanksgiving weekend, we had to write our thank you cards during the holiday season. I decided to kill two birds with one stone by ordering holiday cards from Kodak that featured our wedding picture and a greeting I wrote that said both thank you and happy holidays. It was a creative and easy way to send wishes to the many, many people who deserved greetings from us.
The process for creating the card was easy. I just had to pick a picture from the wedding that we liked (and had the right to use thanks to our photographer) and choose a template from Kodak's site. Then, I ordered the necessary number of cards and had them delivered to a store close to my home. A few days later, I picked up the cards and could start mailing them. The downside to a photo card like this is that you can't really write any personal notes about the specific gifts you received. You'll have to add a note card if you want to do that. I know etiquette suggests writing a personal note to each guest, but we had two wedding events in two different countries and 15 house guests in the States. I was about to collapse after all the planning, cooking, cleaning, and laundry I was doing, so I needed something convenient and fast yet creative. This year, I hope to make my holiday cards more personal.
In any event, I still think the Kodak cards are a fun option for newlyweds. You could use them to share wedding photos or photos of a new home or baby. I know I love getting pictures in the mail over the holidays. Your friends and family might like it, too. You are not limited to Kodak either. Lots of other companies offer similar personalized cards or you could make one on your own computer and print them out yourself.

What a fantastic idea, Francesca!! And the cards look stunning! *cheering*
What a lovely card! I’m sure you’ll have more time to write short, personal greetings in this year’s cards. I can’t imagine planning two separate wedding events in the same year.
I also like Kodak’s photo book. I ordered one a month ago. I like it, but next time I’m going with a larger one (I ordered the smallest book).
That is such a great way to make sure everyone gets a photo from the wedding. I love it! I think that idea is positively genius.
That’s cool. What a great idea for wedding thank you cards.
Cool idea, and the card looks great too, love it.
Great minds think alike! We’re thinking about sending Christmas cards that have one of our wedding photos printed on them.
What a sweet photo and a great idea!
That’s One Big Bird – Wordless Wednesday
Very clever combining holiday greetings with a thank you note.
With all the online albums, a paper photo is becoming a prized rarity.
It’s a very creative idea. I love the picture it’s really beautiful yet fun
I love photo cards. Even if you didn’t get a chance to write a personal note in each one, it feels much more personal than a standard card because it’s got your picture on it. And it’s a great photo, by the way.
What a great idea and beautiful picture.
