Another DIY Thank You Card Idea: Embossing

I've been spending my evenings painstakingly embossing my wedding invitations, which I designed and printed myself as well. I know many of you are looking for creative wedding thank you card ideas. It occurred to me that you could turn to heat embossing to give your thank you cards flair. The best part is that making your cards yourself is usually cheaper -- and people will think you bought an embossed card.

To emboss, you need to choose a rubber stamp with a design that you like and maybe fits in with whatever theme you had for your wedding. For instance, I'm using a rubber stamp of a cornucopia and another of a pumpkin for my invitations. I recommend rubber stamps with a wooden handle because they are easier to use. You also need to pick up an embossing ink pad, embossing powder in a color you like (mine is silver to match my wedding colors), and a heating tool, all of which are available at craft stores.

You stamp the image onto card stock, creating a design that is pleasing to your eye. Next, you pour the embossing powder over the image while it's still wet and remove the excess powder onto a sheet of paper. (You can reuse the powder later.) Finally, you heat the image with the powder using the heating tool. Like magic, the powder will become stiff and your image will be raised and beautiful. No one will ever know you made it yourself.

I really liked your suggested way of making weddingthank you cards. And I should say that there’s nothing to hide. They would become even more valuable for the guests to know that you yourself have put so much effort and gratitude in them.
