When You Find Your Prince

Wordless Wednesday Wedding
In the October 2007 release announcing the engagement of Prince Joachim and Marie Cavallier, the Danish royal family also wrote that Cavallier would be converting from Catholicism to the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Denmark and "releasing herself" from her French citizenship as she prepared for marriage. Clearly, Cavallier, now a princess, gave up a lot to support her husband and his role as prince.
We all give up something -- even if just a bit of our freedom or independence -- when we agree to marry. In fact, I'm willing to bet that Prince Joachim had to give up some things as well. I've been talking a lot this week about the give and take of marriage. That's because compromise and sacrifice and work is at the base of every strong marriage. But both people have to do their share. When you get married, you both must learn to fight fairly, give in once in a while, forgive, and give up things for the greater good of your relationship. Life is no longer about just you. There's another person there with you. And there's an entire family relying on you. The prince and princess know that they have to get along because the kingdom is depending on them, too!

Lovely photo. Looks like the new princess is already used to the limelight!
Nice picture. I think what you say about giving up something when you get married is true. Also, I think when you sacrifice something you end up feeling more invested in the relationship and it makes you work harder at it.
What a beautiful couple.
I hate to say this, but Prince Joachim’s name is the same as the real-life surname of the Ritz Brothers. Though not as famous as the Marx Brothers or the Three Stooges, they were one of the best comedy teams of the mid 20th century. It’s a crime that no one has done a boxed set of their films on DVD.
I think she’s getting more than a fair deal, unless she’s very religious, but I don’t know her past or how wealthy the Danish royalty are. He looks pleased as punch; she’s the one who looks regal.
Great post, and great photo! And thank you for the reminder that “storybook” weddings still mean a lot of work and willingness to compromise as the marriage itself is built.
That must have been quite a fancy wedding. I would like to go to one some day, I have attended one with a military like ceremony.
Happy WW, thank you for peeking in on our parade.
..
The support she’s giving the prince is great. They really do look good together
A fairy tale come true. Wish I had a chance to find a Prince.
Lovely photo shared today!
I bet they had one fancy wedding. That’s right – compromise and sacrifice are a part of marriage and I think that is something that many people forget.

So regal.
She looks every bit the princess! So poised.
Great pic. The prince looks totally used to these things, but I don’t think she does…
Thanks for dropping by.
Lovely couple!
Such poise! Gorgeous! Happy WW!
He looks happy. She looks scared.
Marriage is not a 50/50 proposition. To make it work, it must be 100/100.
